Banten province is gateway of Indonesia where Soekarno-Hatta International airport, which is the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia, is located in this province. Banten is situated in westhern of Java island and adjacent to Jakarta. Futhermore, recognising the geographical position, trade, and labor, Banten province is a buffer zone for Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia.

The establishment of Banten Province was inextricably linked to the influence of historical background, especially the heyday of the kingdom of Banten and the struggle against the colonialism. The Sultanate of Banten experienced a peak of glory during the reign of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (1631-1692). At this time, Banten became the center of the spread of Islam and the port of Banten was recognized as the center of international trade. The proof of the triumph of the Banten Sultanate can be witnessed, namely the remnants of the past, such as the site of the Surosowan Palace of the Sultanate of Banten, relics stored in the Archaeological Museum of Banten, and the Great Mosque of Banten.

The total area of Banten is 9.663 Km2, consisting of 4 Regencies and 4 Cities, with the capital city is Serang City. Based on population projections for 2018, Banten population were 12,7 million people. Geografically, the region is surrounded by Java Sea in the North, Sunda Straits in the West, and facing the India Ocean in the South. These make Banten as a region with very great of beach tourism and sea product resources. Beside beach tourism, the province has many other fascinating tourism that is almost infinite such as nature tourism, historical tourism, industrial tourism, and agro tourism.

The Province has a great number of nature and culture attractions. The most famous of them are the wildlife reserve of Ujung Kulon National Park on the southwestern tip of Java, the isolated communities of the mysterious Baduy, the Anyer and Tanjung Lesung unspoiled beaches, the son of Krakatau volcano which rises impressively from the Java sea, and historical place Great Mosque of Banten Kingdom.
